OPF/GPF Off

OPF / GPF off — the petrol side of the same story.

The petrol particulate filter is the gasoline twin of a DPF: same upside, same legal reality. Here it is, straight.

What it is

The Otto/Gasoline Particulate Filter traps soot from direct-injection petrol engines. An OPF/GPF-off calibration removes that filter from the control strategy.

Pros

  • Avoids a blocked or failing filter on affected petrol engines
  • Relevant for off-road, motorsport and export builds

Cons

  • Removes a legally required emissions component on road cars
  • Increases particulate emissions
  • Will fail emissions testing where the OPF/GPF is mandated

Is it worth it?

On a road car where the filter is mandated it is not a legal option; the proper path is repair or replacement. As a delete, it is for off-road, motorsport and export use.

Legality & compliance

The OPF/GPF is a mandatory emissions component on affected petrol road cars. Removal is restricted or illegal for road use in most countries and will fail emissions testing. Intended for off-road, motorsport or export vehicles only. Check local law.

Questions, answered.

Which cars have an OPF/GPF?

Many newer direct-injection petrol cars (broadly Euro 6c and later) carry a petrol particulate filter.
